"No knee pain for at least the last 2 weeks. I'm feeling so much more confident on the mats now."
David · Blue belt
James Kennedy rolling on the mats

Sound familiar?

Your hips fight you every time you try to play guard.
Your shoulders or knees are cranky for days after a hard roll.
You're skipping classes or sitting out rounds to protect something.
Stretching after class isn't making a dent.

None of that means you're too old for BJJ. It means your body needs more capacity than the mats alone are building.

Why stretching isn't cutting it

Stretching after class, foam rolling and massage guns feel good for an hour, then the stiffness creeps back. They work on how loose you are, not how much control you have. BJJ needs more than range. It needs you strong at the end of it, when someone's stacking you or cranking a kimura.

STRETCHING & FOAM ROLLING
Feels looser for a bit
Range you can't use under pressure
Back to square one by next class
CONTROLLED MOBILITY (FRC)
Builds strength at the end of your range
Range you can actually use when rolling
Progress that builds week on week

I've been there

About a year into BJJ, injuries took me off the mats. I spent the next two years going deep on mobility, specifically Functional Range Conditioning, and came back feeling better than I did before I started.

These are the same programs I use with my one-on-one clients, built for recreational grapplers with jobs, kids and bodies that don't bounce back like they used to.

What clients are saying

Back to rolling
"Yeah bro I'm back to running and rolling. Still taking it a bit light in the rolls, but have improved heaps. The hip work has been brutal but it's definitely working."
Nate · Blue belt
Pinching pain gone
"I already see some progress and can really feel the increased space in the shoulder. Abduction is significantly better. And more importantly, these small pinching pains are more or less gone."
Andrew · Purple belt
30 years of back pain
"This is the first time in at least 30 years I woke up with no back pain! Chiropractors couldn't do it. Physical therapists couldn't do it. Massage therapists couldn't do it."
Todd · 65 years old
Deeper squat, no hip pinch
"My squat has definitely improved. I'm able to get much deeper in my range and I didn't feel that pinch at the front of my hip at all."
Aimee
Hips feel way smoother
"My kicking height has definitely improved. But the hips overall are just feeling way smoother. Even after my runs I'm not feeling stiff and sore like I used to."
Barney
Mornings without stiffness
"I woke up today for the first time in weeks without any back pain. That early morning stiffness is gone as well."
Tim · Black belt
Less soreness after training
"I don't feel much tension on my hips while I use spike ball. I don't feel much soreness after Muay Thai even though I trained last week."
Le · Blue belt
Up off the floor, no hands
"I could pretty easily push up from sitting cross legged to standing without uncrossing my legs or using hands. Having not been able to sit cross legged 6 months ago, that was pretty cool."
Joe · White belt

Questions

I'm really stiff. Is this too advanced?
No. Every program starts where you are. It's built for people who aren't naturally mobile. I wasn't either.
How much time do I need?
3 sessions a week, about 45 minutes each. Fit them on non-training days or after a lighter class.
Do I need a gym?
Not for most of it. Most sessions need a few home basics, and each program lists what you'll need before you start.
Is this rehab?
No. If you've got an acute injury, see a physio first. These programs build capacity and control so your body handles training better.
Can I cancel?
Anytime, straight from the app. No contracts.
